About This Spot

Veena Thai Seafood Restaurant is a warm, unpretentious gem tucked away in the quieter corners of Kuah, far from the bustling tourist tracks of Langkawi. From the moment you step in, there’s an undeniable sense of a lived-in space where locals gather not just to eat, but to share moments — a sort of everyday ritual centered around the joy of good, honest food.

The atmosphere moves at an easy, deliberate pace, reflecting the care poured into each dish. It’s the kind of place where waiting is part of the experience, inviting guests to slow down and savor anticipation. The modest setting may feel like a humble neighborhood kitchen, with its simple furniture and familiar hum of attentive staff, yet the air carries the vibrant aromas of herbs, spices, and fresh seafood that hint at the culinary stories unfolding behind the scenes.

Veena Thai’s menu captures a rich tapestry of bold flavors and textures, with each plate bringing a thoughtful balance of sour, spicy, and savory notes that linger in the senses. From the zing of tomyam broth to the smoky, charred edges of freshly grilled fish, there’s a constant dialogue between fire, lime, and chili pepper that reflects Thailand’s coastal influence. The dishes seem to hold an echo of shared family tables and market-side stalls, where freshness and tradition meet.

This restaurant isn’t about flashy presentation or quick turns but about the authenticity of local experience — where the clatter of dishes and the rhythm of service underscore a genuine connection to place and produce. It’s easy to appreciate why locals choose Veena Thai for intimate dinners and casual gatherings, knowing the journey from kitchen to table is paced with care and pride.

If you’re looking to step away from the usual tourist spots and into an embrace of genuine Thai-Malay flavors, Veena Thai Seafood Restaurant offers an experience woven with the warmth of community and the kind of attentive cooking that rewards patience with unforgettable taste.

Food 5 star, servers are friendly and busy working, i give overall 4 star because waiting time is extremely long, almost an hour. So if you’re not starving and okay to wait for good food, by all means try this place! Also minus point for cleanliness, cups a bit dirty.

We came for dinner. Not a tourist place. Came here because of our local friend suggestion. Took almost an hour to prepare our food. But it worth the wait. We ordered Ikan Siakap 3 rasa, Tomyam campur, Nasi goreng kampung and Mantis prawn cili kering. All foods were tasty. Price is considerably cheap. The place had so many mosquitoes as it located at the back alley of the shop. If you had sensitive skin towards bugs or mosquitoes, please buy bugs repellent beforehand.

Absolutely amazing thai food. Had to run errands in Kuah so took advantage of the local places compared to touristy Pentai Cenang. Ordered whole Thai BBQ fish, seafood vegetables, and Kailong. Sooo good . Loved the local experience as the night before I ate at a super touristic place with no locals. Here, it is the opposite. All locals. Love it. Service is great here and highly recommend. I was worried about the wait time for the food from reading the reviews, but I think that’s only for weekends or public holidays. I came on a Monday of Christmas week.

Ikan bawal masak stim is veryyyy delicious. Speciality at this restaurant is udang lipan masak cili and the taste is quite good for a first timer like me to try udang lipan masak cili. I think their tomyam also have a good taste but must eat when it still hot. U need to come here before 8pm. Otherwise your food will come late and no table available for you or you can make a reservation a day earlier.
